Book 'em
Today was a red-letter day for us: I got to share one of my favorite authors with my son. Sort of. We went to the children's department of the library and happened upon some picture books by Daniel and Jill Pinkwater. I'd forgotten they did picture books. Daniel Pinkwater wrote books for older kids. I didn't actually read any of them until I was an adult, but they are wonderful. And my stepdaughters loved them. Absurd, clever, laugh-out-loud funny. I highly recommend Pinkwater, especially any of the "Snarkout Boys" books. I have no idea if his books for smaller children are any good; we'll see. But this is the first of several authors Nicholas is going to encounter through me. Of course, he can't appreciate them much now, but he also can't object! I'd be interested in hearing what books everybody else shares with their kids.
