Felled by a stuffy nose
We had big plans this weekend, but ended up tanking them when Nicholas developed a stuffy nose. It turns out I'm one of those wimpy moms who can't take it when her kid is sick. And he wasn't even really sick - just a couple days of runny nose and one night when he couldn't breathe very easily and kept waking up. I kept thinking of what I should do. You can't give a little one cold medicine, of course. My husband, when he gets a head cold, likes Mexican food, preferably chili verde, the spicier the better. That seemed like a bad idea. So I dug out the Ocean (I wrote about the wonders of this stuff earlier), chased after him with a hanky, washed everything he touched, and applied Vicks Vap-o-Rub when he went to sleep (I think it might be a sign of one of the many flaws in my character that I love the smell of Vicks). And today, he seems to be breathing better. I am taking all the credit for it.
I am reminded of that old saying - if you treat a cold, it'll go away in a week. But if you don't do anything, it'll take seven days.
