Giving thanks
So Thanksgiving is almost upon us, and as always the thoughts turn to everything for which I am grateful. This year, of course, our little boy leads my list. But there are so many other things, which I so easily neglect in my harried little world: My husband, who makes every day more fun. My stepdaughters, who constantly amaze and impress me. My parents, whom grandparenthood has transformed into crazy, lovestruck creatures I don't recognize. Joe's mom, who could not be better to me if I were her flesh and blood. A job that still engages and challenges me, despite the upheaval our industry- and economy - is suffering. Co-workers who are talented and dedicated and always good for a laugh. The dog, sleeping on my feet. Garuda Blend coffee from Peets. A library and a park, both within walking distance. And - hopefully - next Thursday, a smoked turkey (with luck, my dad will see this and get the hint) and a boatload of stuffing.
What has you thankful this year?

Comments
I'm thankful for many things.
* My girls. The fact that there are here and healthy and continue to show me what's important in life. I never thought I could love anyone as much as them. It almost hurts.
* My husband. At the risk of sounding corny, he is my best friend. He brings out the best in me even when I am at my worst. He is the best dad in the world (another corny line). And he continues to make me a believer in what we can achieve together.
* Family/Friends. I am lucky to have a wonderful close-knit family. And while we probably know too much about each others' business (family of 3 girls, need I say more?) we love each other. I also am lucky to have "inherited" a great set of parents that treat me like a daughter. And my friends? I have the best.
* Health. I am blessed to have good health and that my family has good health.
* Jobs. I'm thankful that my husband and I have jobs that allow us to put food on the table, replace worn out shoes, and allow us to do fun things once in a while.
Good post Patty!
I'm thankful that:
* Our family stayed afloat financially, despite the evaporation of my on-call job in late January (see upheaval, industry above) and the fact that my husband works in the same industry;
* My children have thrived emotionally this year, and we're really connected as a family;
* My children are healthy, the present outbreak of illness not withstanding;
* We had no mortgage or investment income, so are not at risk of losing anything;
* My freelance career is actually thriving and taking me in new directions; and
* The Constitution will once again be the rule of law in this country. I feel so hopeful, for the first time in a long time.
