good for the holidays

Got a few extra holiday cards lying around? I do. Right after I
ordered the Big Top’s Christmas cards for 2009, I won a gift basket
full of assorted stationary including Christmas cards. Now what was I
going to do with these cards, I wondered? Then I got this great idea
thanks to my pal, Kerri.
She twittered about a program to send holiday cards to wounded and
convalescing soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital. Unfortunately that link
proved to be a big, fat hoax. Bad karma will definitely rain down upon
the low-life who started that. Yes it will.

But I was not to be deterred. I wanted to do something good with all
these extra cards.  had already decided that each family member will
send one off to a soldier. I recall years ago my Uncle sharing how he
received a Christmas card from a total stranger while he was off
fighting in the Vietnam War. He shared how much such a simple gesture
meant to him back then. This, I thought, was what I should do with all
these extra cards.

Enter Bill, my hero, who found a program in place that is the real thing. But there isn’t much time. Through the American Red Cross, we have Holiday Mail for Heroes.

Holiday Mail For Heroes is here again! This year, we are teaming up with our friends at Pitney Bowes
for the third time to send holiday cards to service members, veterans,
and their families. This is a great way to give back this holiday
season – by sharing your kind words and thanks with those who have
given a great deal to their country.

Send in your cards to the address below, and please read the guidelines carefully!

Holiday Mail For Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

All cards must be received no later than Monday, December 7th.
Cards received after this date will unfortunately be returned to the
sender. This deadline ensures enough time to sort and distribute cards
before the holidays.

After the mailbox closes, the cards we received will be screened for
hazardous materials by Pitney Bowes and then reviewed by Red Cross
volunteers working around the country. Then, the cards are sent out to
recipients in time for the holidays.

Today is December 2nd so I am a little late to this party but still
there is five days to get it done and get it done we will! I hope y’all
will join in too.

Oh, and, the official Big Top Christmas Card? What does it look like you wonder?

Wonder no more!

Adventures in Juggling

With five kids from young adult to teens to pre-teen to school aged (with special needs), a brand new grandbaby, a husband and a busy career as a neonatal intensive care nurse, what else would I be doing but juggling? My life is a circus and I wouldn't have it any other way. This is my adventures in juggling.
