Today I've been slapped in the face with the realities of school, work, and bills. I spent all of spring break actually vacationing. Not only did I vacation from work but I vacationed from my cellphone and computers. 

I also took a vacation from some of my mom rules.  Like milk with dinner.  I let the kids have lemonade almost every night. They were in heaven.

I let them stay up past bedtime too.  And a few nights we could be caught in the hotel pool at 9 p.m. 

We also had dessert nearly every night instead of sticking to our twice a week rule.

We saw lots of cool stuff: elephant seals, the Big Sur coastline, Hearst Castle, whales and deer but what are my kids still talking about today?  The hotel pool.

It was 59 degrees outside one day and my kids were in the heated pool, living it up.  They had a ball running from the hot tub to the pool and back again.  Ah, to be young again.
