I have a dirty obsession
I have a dirty obsession and it comes in the form of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
I only admit this after coming clean during dinner with friends the other night. I should throw in these are women who I admire for their strength of character and who I look up to and rely on as mentors. So it felt a little weird coming clean on this one.
I religiously TIVO the show every week and squeeze it in to my evening television fix.
In the words of Abby, "That's sick and wrong!". Yes dear, I know it is but I just can't help myself.
I can't help the fact that I love reality television. It all started with The Real World when I was in college and has escalated to watching women spend thousands of dollars on clothes, jewelry and cars and drinking a ridiculous amount of alcohol.
Why I watch these pseudo-housewives, I'm not exactly sure. They are nothing like me and live lives far more glamourous than mine. I can equate it to watching a car wreck...I just can't look away.

The efficiency gains from the assembly line also coincided with the economic rise of the United States. The assembly line forced workers to work at a certain pace with very repetitive motions which led to more output per worker while other countries were using less productive methods.Used Cars
this me joining Melissa on the "secretly obsessed with TRHOOC" bench. I know it's bad but I can't help but look, point and stare.
Mine is Top Chef. ...we all know it ain't REALITY but it's still fun to watch!

oooohhh I love Top Chef as well!
My 24-year-old daughter loves to watch The Real Housewives, both OC and Atlanta. I never sit down and watch with her and I don't even try to get their names straight, but I can't help but make comments about their lifestyle as I'm passing by the TV.
I think part of the fascination of watching is that we vicariously enjoy all the luxuries and time and clothes and jewels and functions and parties; the other part gets a kick out of saying "I'm not as shallow as you are!".
Enjoy your guilty pleasure! You deserve the break.
That's the best part...the making comments. Plus, I'd like to think I'm not as shallow as they are :)
