I've been replaced ...

What was she thinking? My baby daughter made an appointment for this Friday to have her wisdom teeth pulled and she didn't consult me. She didn't email or call me with her plans and the date so I could check my calendar and be available to be by her side.

What was she thinking? Who is going to make sure she doesn't use a straw, who is going to supply her with ice bags so she won't swell like a chipmunk, who is going to run to the drug store if she needs more pain pills and who is going to make sure she stays horizontal after taking those pain meds...

She says she did it because she has an extra day off on Monday giving her added recuperation time. And she knew that with Valentine's Day this weekend and her Dad's birthday this weekend that it wouldn't work out for me to come. But, she made the appointment anyway!  Maybe a bit of paranoia is setting in but I think she did it on purpose!

I think she was thinking, okay I'm 24 and I'm capable of getting someone to drive me back home on Friday and how perfect I have a wonderful roommate who would love the practice of care-giving since she's studying to be a nurse.

She also was probably thinking, I really don't need my mom to drop everything and come running, I'm a big girl now... that's the part that bothers me...she is a big girl and as proud of her as I am that she is responsible and resourceful, I still would love to fill those ice bags!

no worries Mama, I told her to cancel, cause it hurts, and also cause the insurance claim hasn't come through yet (that's my lesson she can learn from in this situation!)  Love you, and you will never be replaced, EVER!

If she's like me, she'll probably call you several times after just so she can hear your voice.  When I don't feel well, talking (or maybe in her case listening) to my mommy always makes me feel better!
