The kissing bandit

When Nicholas was born, I got it into my head that I wanted to be the one to kiss him more than anybody else in his life. I figured one day he's going to grow up and potentially meet someone he's going to end up kissing more than me; well before that, he'll probably fight the Mommy kisses. So while he's little, I wanted to store up for the future.

Thing is, he's getting wise to me. He's only 2, but he'll say "No kissing!" (And "No singing!" and "No tickling.") So early! So I've resorted to subterfuge. I can generally get some kisses if I say they're from someone else: "A kiss from Bapa" or one of the grandmas, or even the dog. And if they're from his sisters, I can generally get a few bonus kisses. But he's learning all my little tricks, so I've resorted to kissing his forehead while he sleeps. So far it doesn't seem to bother him; I haven't woken him up or anything. But even if I did, I figure it's preferable to breaking into his dorm room some night years down the road because I'm afraid someone is catching up to my kisses.

A mom's got to do what a mom's got to do.
