Last of the firsts
Easter is in a couple of weeks. For us, it's the last of Nicholas' first major holidays. Hard to believe it's going to have been a year already. Then again, it's hard to remember life before him, too. I get a little melancholy, thinking of all those firsts - Fourth of July, Halloween, Christmas, and how cute he was, and how much he changed in between. There were also the other firsts - like his first track meet, which he attended at 9 days old. And his first ice cream, at my dad's birthday dinner. I'm pretty sure that one ranks right up there for Nicholas. And so I figure ... maybe there aren't going to be any more "first" holidays. But there will be plenty of other firsts: steps, words, day of school, driving lesson, job, Nobel Peace Prize (why not aim high?). I am looking forward to every one of 'em. Well, maybe not so much the driving.
