A love note to 15 years.

17 1/2 years ago, I met this guy at a college bible study group. He walked into the room and it was like everything went dark, except for a bright light from above that shone over him.  I was in love.  Ok, maybe it didn't quite happen as I describe but you get the drift.  I hadn't said two words to him but I knew there was something about him and I had to get to know him.

We tip-toed around each other for months.  I dropped hints, made sure I was always dressed nice when I saw him and made eyes at him.  If you ask Doug about this, he'll tell you that my hints were so lame he didn't know they were hints.

Nevertheless, we finally exchanged ADDRESSES around Christmas so I could SEND him a card.  That was my last BIG hint.  I sent him a card over the break and wrote a long note in it about how I hoped he was having a great holiday and how I was looking forward to seeing him soon.

He sent me a card with a Beagle peeing on a Christmas tree with his phone number inside.

And thus began our love affair.  Today is our 15 wedding anniversary.

If you can't stand sappy, stop reading here.

We've grown up together.  We met as kids, he 20 and me 18 and we've watched each other blossom into adults. We've seen 33 states and 7 countries together.  We've packed up and moved across the country and halfway across the country so one of us could chase a dream.

Doug has championed me through a lot.  He has always seen strengths in my when all I could see was weakness.  He is my partner in crime and always my biggest cheerleader.  He makes me brave and encourages me to take risks.  He never complains.  Even when I gave up 19 months of weekends to make trips to Fresno to help my grandparents after a tragic accident.

He is an amazing person and I am so lucky to have him.  And best of all, he has given me two  amazing kids.

Here's to 15 years of marriage and counting!

Congratulations - to you and Doug Funny!
But you left out my favorite part of your love story (slightly edited because this is a family Web site). We were all out together once and you were giving Doug a hard time about something that needed fixing. You said, "I bust Doug's chops (that's the edited phrase) a lot, but there's nobody else whose chops I'd want to bust." I think that pretty much says it all.
