Modmoms is excited to kick off a new feature to the site. We'll occasionally profile a local mom and give her a chance to share a little bit about herself and her family. 

Amanda is the President of MOMS Club - Modesto Central.   She graciously agreed to be our first featured mom!  So take a few minutes and meet Amanda Weimer...

Modmoms: Tell us about yourself.

Amanda: I am a 26 year-old stay-at-home mom who used to teach first, fourth, and sixth graders. I have been married since December of 2006 to a great man, Tom, who is an almond rancher and project manager for a water distribution company. We have one son, JT, who is 19 months-old and are expecting twin boys in May! I love being able to spend time watching my son grow and learn. I am very grateful to be able to stay at home with him!

Modmoms: What's your favorite family place?

Amanda: Our motor home, camping. My family enjoys dirt bike riding and taking turns in our Polaris RZR. We especially enjoy Coos Bay, Oregon because the riding is so great, the ocean is close, and the weather is very nice. Camping is something we all really enjoy mostly because we are all together.

Modmoms:  What's your favorite place for yourself?

Amanda: A trip to the nail salon for a pedicure and visiting my massage therapist are my two favorite places just for me. I need to remind myself to take time for myself and a little low cost pampering always make me feel so much better!

Modmoms: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?

Amanda: I enjoy reading with my son. JT is learning so much these days and wants to know so much about everything! He really soaks up what I read to him and recalls it when we are out and about. It is such a proud experience- being a mom and a teacher!

Modmoms: What did you eat for dinner last night?  

Amanda: Meatloaf, my husband's favorite!

Modmoms: Can you share the recipe?

Amanda: I don't have a recipe written down, but meatloaf is pretty easy!

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 egg
- a sprinkle of cracker crumbs
- Sweet Baby Ray's spicy BBQ Sauce
- a few dashes of Spicy Steak Seasoning, pepper, and minced garlic.

Bake at 350 degrees for an hour, remove and pour maple syrup and more BBQ sauce on top, return to oven, and bake for another 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Modmoms: What’s on your iPod?

Amanda: Mostly Paramore! I really enjoy the "Twilight" soundtrack as well. I have a lot of movie soundtracks because I don't really have a favorite genre of music... I just like it all!

Modmoms:  Finish this sentence: My kid hates it when I…

Amanda: make him get out of the shower! He loves the shower!

Modmoms: What is your favorite TV show?

Amanda: "Lipstick Jungle"- I enjoy seeing the powerful working women make it all work!
