Modmomsclub: Tell us about yourself.

Irene Gomez: My name is Irene Gomez. I'm 36 years old and I am a former SAHM to Isabella, age 4 1/2. I'm also happily married to Phillip since 1995.  I've recently returned to work part time, 2 days a week, which has been an adjustment to our routines, but has turned out to be very rewarding.  Isabella and I have been very active in local playgroups, and you can always find us at fun events in the area.

MMC: What's your favorite family place? 

IG: Nature?  We love spending time outside as a family.  We pack a picnic and head to the park, the river, or the beach. We enjoy camping and fishing.

MMC: What's your favorite place for yourself?

IG: I'm a shopper.  I love going to the mall, Target, TJ Maxx, Ross, even if it's just to browse.  I have been known to spend hours in the mall!

MMC: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?

IG: Something my husband started when he was working extra hours, we put something under her pillow a couple nights a week.  It can be something simple like stickers or a balloon and a sucker, or sometimes I find something fun at the Dollar Spot.  It gives her something to look forward to in the morning, and sometimes it gets her up before her alarm clock!  And I just love seeing her excitement when she finds something neat.

MMC: What did you eat for dinner last night?  

IG: Tara's taco salad. Mmmmm.

MMC: Can you share the recipe? 

IG: No way, Tara would kill me.  She swore me to secrecy.

MMC: What’s on your iPod?

IG: I'm all over the place with my music.  I love to sing, so country, show tunes, mariachi, and old school rap are some favorites.  I also love current stuff, alternative, and r&b.  I grew up listening to Tejano and love singing along to Selena!!

MMC: What is your favorite TV show? 

IG: Lost and Survivor.  I think I secretly want to be stuck on a deserted island.

MMC: Finish this sentence" My kid hates it when I…”

IG: say I told you so.  I think she's starting to realize that Mom really does know best.
