Meet Karen Wong
Modmomsclub: Tell us about yourself.
Karen Wong: I was born and raised here in Modesto. I went to UCDavis where I met my husband who is also from Modesto. We have been married 14 years. We lived in Texas for 6
years after getting married before returning back to Modesto. We have 3 children. Thomas is 9, Lily will be 8 in July, and Logan will be 6 in August. I am a Senior Winemaker at E&J Gallo Winery.
MMC: What's your favorite family place?
KW: My favorite family place is camping. We get to spend quality time together with out the interuptions of the tv, phone, and work. It's great to go to explore new places. And who doesn't enjoy sitting by a campfire in the evening enjoying smores.
MMC: What's your favorite place for yourself?
KW: Walking. I am preparing to walk 39 miles July 11th and 12th in San Francisco for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I enjoy both walking around town with my friend, Andrea Young, who inspired me to participate in the Avon Walk. I also like getting up early to walk around the neighborhood before starting my day. It gives me time to think through my day and my to-do list.
MMC: What's your favorite ritual with your kids?
KW: I enjoying sitting down and planning their birthday parties with them. From picking out the theme, making the invitations, to deciding on the cake and favors. It's great to see them enjoy the party at the end of all the planning and preparations.
MMC: What did you eat for dinner last night?
KW: We had pizza. It was my oldest son's baseball team's end of the season party after their last game. Great job 9/10 Red Sox!
MMC: Can you share the recipe?
KW: The recipe for pizza is easy, all I did was call in my order during the last inning of the game so it would be ready when we got there.
MMC: What’s on your iPod?
KW: Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and quite a few 80's top hits.
MMC: What is your favorite TV show?
KW: Working full time, and running 3 kids to baseball/softball practice, cubscouts, brownies, and dance, doesn't leave much time for TV so it's pretty much whatever the kids or my husband have on. I don't currently have any one show that I "have to watch".
MMC: Finish this sentence" My kids hate it when I…”
KW: already know about their day at school before I pick them up. I have a great relationship with the teachers, staff, and other parents at their school so I often hear how the day went before they have had a chance to tell me themselves.
