There is a new and fun way to get started with infant signing.  Modesto Baby Signs Families is a playgroup membership for local families interested in infant signing.  Each month there is a themed playgroup with puppet & concept item play, music & rhymes, a literacy component, signing & child development component, and interactive activity play based around the signing theme.  It is a great way to connect to a certified/experienced signing instructor (in fact the Baby Signs, Inc. Outstanding Instructor for 2009), network with other local signing families, and have some fun while learning more about infant signing and implementing signing at home.  Playgroup members are also entitled to significant program & product discounts so it's a great way to get started for a low price ($15/month with >$125 in program/product savings).  Morning and evening playgroups are available (10am & 6pm) on the third Tues. of each month at Babies 'R Us Modesto, and one or both parents are welcome to join for either or both playgroup times.  Parent handouts and additional signing resources and information are available on-line to playgroup members. 

Having educational resources and support makes a big difference in signing success and this is a new program for parents and babies to help provide that support on an ongoing basis (from 0-3years).  Your first playgroup is free so you can check it out and see infant signing in action and get connected with other local signing families.
