My 10-month-old is showing me up
My husband is one of those people who firmly believes kids eat whatever adults eat - no special meals, though it's okay to pick off mushrooms or whatever if they don't like it. That makes sense to me, and I was all for it as we entered the new world of Nicholas eating "real" food. So last night we went to my stepdaughter's track meet in Los Banos, then to Wool Growers for dinner (and if you don't know about this place, stop reading, get in the car and go there. Crazy good food). They serve homestyle, which means you get plate after plate of beans, salad, soup, etc. We all chowed down quite heartily, and Nicholas more than kept up. But I realized something sad when he was devouring lamb stew: my son has a more sophisticated palate than I do. So while Joe will be one of those admirable parents who says, "You'll eat what's in front of you or you won't eat," I will be in the rather awkward position of saying "Well, I'm not going to be having any of that, but you need to eat it."
Great.
