Operation: Lose the Hat!
What's up with the hat...
Who ever invented the baseball cap? I’d like to get my hands on that guy! I don’t know how many other moms have this issue, but I’m really not sure if my son has hair. Okay, that’s a slight exaggeration, but most days I really don’t know if he’s bald, has a crew cut, hasn’t combed his mangy hair or what the style of the day is. All because of that pesky baseball cap.
Okay for all of you who are saying, aw, my little guy loves his Giants cap, if your little guy is actually a little guy, I’m not talking to you…my little guy is going to be 26…too old for the permanent baseball cap.
Maybe someone has some insight to this, is it a security thing, don’t know why he’d need it coming to my house, is it because he hates his hair, what’s to hate he has beautiful, thick dark hair, is it because he’s the number one Giants fan, since each of his many caps is an SF one, is it because he thinks he looks good in it, newsflash not your most attractive look…
Whatever the reason, I’m on a mission… He does actually remove it when he’s at the dinner table (quick take a look, it’s my chance to see his beautiful hair) and now I’ve begun asking him to remove it for photographs, which takes all of 10 seconds… a small victory I know but a step in the right direction.
If anyone has suggestions for phase two of 'Operation: Lose the Hat' … send them my way.

that kicks in sometime around puberty. I don't have the problem with Nicholas - our issue goes the other way: he doesn't like to keep his hat on, even in the hot sun. But Joe is a hat fiend. He will spend time selecting which hat to wear on a particular day (doesn't go by sports season, which is logical ... more the karma of this team or that one).
I think it's because they don't want people to think they worry over their hair. You might try the old reverse psychology. "Honey, I LOVE that hat!"
