Don't tell anyone but I actually don't bake. Can't say I've ever enjoyed it, although I enjoy the idea of it. I do make my mom's fudge however. Yum! It is the best fudge I have ever had. I'm not a big fan of soft-ish fudge so I love this stuff because you keep it in the fridge and it stays hard.
Mrs. See's Fudge
In a bowl:
1 8oz jar of marshmellow creme
2 cubes of butter
2 cups of walnuts, broken
3 pkgs. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tsp vanilla
In a pan
1 can of PET evaporated mile (or any kind you like better).
4 1/2 cups of sugar
Boil the milk and sugar in a pan for 7 minutes. If it is rainy day - 8 or 9 minutes.
Pour the hot pan ingredients into the bowl and mix everything together until all melted.
Pour into a 8x11 Pyrex and put in the fridge to harden.
I love making oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips, dried cranberries & pineapple, and toffee bits. Super easy (add all and stir then drop w/a scoop onto sheet and bake) and very yummy! You can also change-up what you add for variety (e.g. raisins, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, peppermint pieces, ....use your imagination!) .
It's not technically baking, because they're Chocolate & Peanut Butter no-bake cookies. But it's something that my 6 year old can do with me, and I don't have to worry about her getting burned by using the oven.
