My daughter is only 9 right now, so I'm still "allowed" to take photos
in front of the school, walk her to her classroom, and make sure she's
settled. I'm sure those days will be over soon, and it'll be "mom,
really...it's ok...I can go by myself!" LOL
Measuring the kiddos on the first day would be a more organized way of measuring them instead of my current method of doing it whenever it occurs to me.
These are all things my mom did for us so I'm passing them down. I always make my girls stand in front of our home for a photo. And I wake them by singing:

I feel like my 6 year-old already wants me out of the picture!
I also take a picture of my daughter in front of the house. Another thing I do is take her height and mark/date it on one of our kitchen walls.
