If you come to my house right now, you'll hear nothing. It's a quiet I haven't heard in many, many years. And I'm in love with it.

You see, I was on vacation this week...from my kids.  And it was everything I hoped it to be.  Brilliant.  Wonderful.  Stress-free.  And best of all quiet.

This wouldn't have been possible if not for my rockstar mom who offered to take the kids for a few days, which morphed into a full week.  The girls are at Camp Nana in Fresno and I'm in heaven.

I suppose I should feel weird admiting this but the kids don't miss us and we don't miss them.  I thought for sure I'd have pangs of longing but so far nada.  Doug even admits he really doesn't miss them yet either.  And from our conversations on the phone, the girls clearly could care less that they are 100 miles away.

Generally when we leave the girls it's because we have somewhere to go.  But this time we didn't.  We went to the movies, got lots of chores done, worked and even managed to sleep in a few days.

It's been awesome but the gravy train has to end sometime and sometime comes tomorrow for us.  Back to reality.  I'm sure when I wake up tomorrow morning and get ready to get them, I'll feel the pangs of longing I've been waiting for...right?
