Sleepy Time for Mommy
Sleepy? Forgetful?
According to a study presented at a meeting of the Society for Neuroscience, there is an excuse to nap.
Napping helps the brain, specifically your memory.
I'd love to try out that sales ploy with my kids but alas they have outgrown napping. Maddie, who is in her last year of preschool, has pronounced on several occassions over the last few months that she hates naps. Although, she isn't actually napping, her preschool has a quite time during the day where the kids get out the cots and lay down for an hour or so.
She has long outgrown the daily ritual of hunkering down for some sleepeye, but I've seem to grow back into it.
In fact, I just took a nap Saturday afternoon for about and hour. I felt like a million bucks when I woke up.
The study also sites that broken sleep, sleeping during the night and then waking for various reasons, also contributes to a bad memory. I've definately been battling that over the past 6 months or so. And, as the study supports, I've been forgeting stuff right and left. The girls on the otherhand have no trouble getting a full night's sleep.
So it seems we have changed places at our house. I'm the one that needs a nap.
Excuse me while I go take one.
