Things to do in town
I like how the Bee has the "Scene" insert every Friday. However, the only stuff listed in the kids box is usually for school-age or older. Isn't there anything around here for the under 5 set? I have three boys ages 5 and under, and I'd like to find some events for them that we can attend as a family ...

I am a member of MOMS Club Modesto East, we have a variety of activities we enjoy throughout the week. Park days, kids crafts, hosted house play dates, as well as a moms night out without the kids once a month.
Scenic Nursery has kids events on some Saturdays. Check their schedule. They had a free Easter Egg hunt for kids this past weekend, and we loved exploring the nursery, taking pictures in all the beautiful locations. There is also a kids garden, where they can dig and play and taste fresh herbs. Bella wasn't so crazy about the parsley, but she thought it was cool to eat something she picked. LOL
Sonic has "Happy Hour" weekdays from 2-4. It's good for all their slushies and other drinks. I got a small the other day for 59 cents. That would be a fun thing to do with the little ones since they have so many different flavors (and colors). ;)
I believe that Beardsley's Bible Bookstore has a Wednesday morning storytime followed by an activity.
Parks and Recs also has some great things. Their movie nights are free and they have lots of activities. http://www.modestogov.com/prnd/activityguide/
Oh, and Jr. Giants starts up soon. Parks and Rec has taken over the program now that the YMCA is closed. My son participated last year at 3 years old. Not sure how young they take 'em. Registration is from 5:30-8 p.m. on the following dates/locations:
May 6 - Neighborhood Center at Marshall Park, 420 Chicago
May 7 - Senior Citizen Center, 211 Bodem
I'll let you know if I think of or come across anything else. ;)
I recently heard that McHenry Mansion has activities the first Saturday of the month.
The free movies at Regal will start soon in the summertime. I think those are usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They have a G and a PG playing at the same time. It's about 6 weeks.
In downtown Turlock we have bead classes and orgami classes daily at a very inexpensive price. come check us out. mention this and get $5 dollars off your next purchase.
LUNA Moms Club has weekly themed playgroups (every Wednesday ~10:15am - after the Stroller Strides class). It's free to be a member and it's nice to network with other moms (plus we have LUNA bar mini samples and when it's cold we have coffee too and each week there is a Mom's With a Mission education component - this quarter we're learning about environmental causes of breast cancer and ways to avoid/minimize them).
Check the library website. They just had a juggler show that was free, and my girl enjoyed it a lot. They've had magician's, animal/reptile shows, etc.
Also, Barnes and Noble has storytimes on Tues and Saturdays. Once a month, they have a character visit. We've seen Arthur, Curious George, etc.
I'm always keeping an eye out for stuff to do that's local and free. My girl is 4 and we love festivals and parades. Can't wait til the weather warms up so we can get back out there.
