Walking hand in hand with the one I love
One thing I bet all moms have in common is that there isn't enough time. Between working, chores, family obligations, errands, church, and everything else that demands our attention, sometimes it seems like a luxury to just stop and take a breath.
Today, I got to stop and take a breath. Nicholas and I took advantage of a break in the rainy weather and a break between tasks and went outside. We took the dog for a little walk just so we could all stretch our legs. And as I walked - slooowly - down the sidewalk, the dog leash in one hand and my little boy's hand in the other, I realized this is why I do it all. These moments, which don't come all that often, don't cost anything. They don't take a lot of effort. Just a boy in a hat, and a mom and a dog. And a cooperative Mother Nature.
And even as I had to return home, start dinner, put away laundry and get my stuff together for my night meeting, I didn't feel as harried as I did just a few hours before.
