WHERE: Grace Lutheran Church, 617 W. Orangeburg Ave.

ELKS BREAKFAST

WHERE: Modesto Elks Lodge, 645 Charity Way

EXCURSION TO SAUSALITO

WHEN: Deadline Monday; trip is Sept. 16

OUTREACH EVENT

WHEN: Sept. 18, 5 to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Modesto Church of the Brethren, 2301 Woodland Ave.
INFO: An evening of chocolate fountains, hors d'oeuvres and silent auctions is planned for the first annual Outreach Affaire. Proceeds will go to support local programs such as graffiti abatement, skateboarding for youth, crime prevention and the Agape Satyagraha conflict resolution program. ART COMPETITION

WHEN: Through Sept. 24
INFO: As a way to creatively raise awareness of the need for early detection of cancer, Emanuel Medical Center is calling for entries in an art competition to promote early detection of breast, ovarian and cervical cancer. The winning entry will be showcased at Emanuel's annual Women's Cancer Awareness Event on Oct. 12 and the winning artist will receive a $250 honorarium.
